Prenatal Care

Take control of your changing body!

Our goal as pelvic floor physiotherapists is to attempt to minimize the negative impact that pregnancy and childbirth can have on your body, now and in the future.

Why should I do prenatal physio?

During pregnancy, the body undergoes drastic changes in a short period of time. These changes can bring about many concerns:

How to safely exercise?

How to prepare for childbirth?

Constipation

Diastasis recti

Hemorrhoids

Intimate problems

Urinary symptoms

Many other general aches and pains (pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.)

Physiotherapy is an effective resource to help you address all of the above.
While childbirth is beautiful, it is also a traumatic event for the female body. The passage of the baby through the birth canal can impair the local structures. These structures do not always return to their previous level of function on their own. Even in the absence of symptoms, you could have impaired tissues which you might only become aware of in 20 years. By building up your body throughout your pregnancy through specific exercises, you will be stronger going into the delivery, and consequently stronger coming out of it. This can offset many of the negative side effects that often occur after delivery.
