Pediatric Osteopathy

Help rebalance your child’s systems and promote general well-being as they grow!

Osteopathy does not replace a medical consultation, but can help with many common pediatric problems.

Osteopathy is a gentle approach that can help children from the newborn stage through the school years with a variety of problems, through the use of gentle hands-on techniques.

Our osteopaths will perform a gentle manual examination to detect minor dysfunctions that may be causing these different problems.

The soft manipulations our osteopaths perform are not painful for your baby and help to reduce tensions throughout your baby’s body.

YOUR BABY AND OSTEOPATHY?

Pregnancy and the birthing process can be traumatic for your baby. During pregnancy, the uterus can be a tight fit. Your baby’s skull, limbs and other bodily structures can be compressed.

During the birthing process significant compressive force is exerted on your baby’s skull, chest and pelvis, which can cause an imbalance in your baby's systems. This can be aggravated by: the use of forceps or vacuum, an overly long or very quick labour, breech/forehead/face presentations, prematurity, if the umbilical cord wrapped around their neck or by an emergency c-section.

Many problems can present themselves as a result:

Disturbed sleep

Excessive crying, irritability, drowsiness

Abundant regurgitation, poor digestion, very long feedings

Head asymmetry

Neck stiffness (muscular tension in the neck which causes the head to always be turned to the same side)

Motor or postural disorders
