Cardio Strength & Flow
Improve your technique, prevent injuries, and develop your endurance!
At Active Solution Physiotherapy, we are pleased to offer a new group class: Cardio Strength and Flow: a 55 minute class where you will improve your range of motion, balance, strength, and cardiovascular endurance.
What to expect?
The class is divided into 3 main parts:
Warm Up:
The warm up includes full body dynamic stretches and activation exercises targetting the deep core and stabilisers.
Workout Portion
Strength Circuit
This portion follows a typical format: your kinesiologist will suggest 4 to 5 strength training exercises which will be completed in circuit mode. These exercises will target functional movements involving large muscle groups as well as movements that target specific ones. Our muscle chains depend on each of their individual links!
Cardio flow!
It's one thing to execute an exercise well in a controlled setting. However, injuries often happen during transitions from one position to another, from direction to another. This portion of the training will allow you to work on the flow and sequence of movements intentionally, all while working on your cardiovascular endurance.
Cool Down
And of course, the class ends with a transition period between moderate-to-vigorous work and your return home.
Who is this class for?
-
For parents and mothers looking to transition from a postpartum workout class to a more intensive and complete training
Being a parent requires not only a strong core but also strength, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility to accomplish a variety of daily tasks and keep injuries at bay. This class is designed to help you develop these fitness components to facilitate the performance of daily tasks such as picking up toys from the floor, take baby out of the bath, take in the grocery bags while also carrying the car seat and diaper bag, or taking the stroller or wagon in and out of the car more safely, and with more ease and efficiency. -
For people who are reintegrating a sport after years of inactivity.
Boroughs around Montreal are increasing the access to sports and leisure activities allowing people of all ages to move, improve their fitness, and socialize in a dynamic and inclusive setting. However, changing our physical activity practices too quickly without appropriate preparation can increase risk of injury. Prepare your body for the physical challenges like changes in direction, jumps, and balance - which we find in many community-level sports such as pickle ball, tennis, hockey, or skating, in order to fully enjoy your sport and maintain an active lifestyle.
-
For endurance sports enthusiasts (running, cycling)
TheCardio Strength & Flow class is an excellent complementary activity to endurance sports such as running and cycling - two sports which involve movement mainly in one plane of motion (movement of the limbs forward and backwards). A disproportionate volume of activity in one plane without training the others (lateral and rotational movements) can lead to articular imbalances that may lead to overuse injuries. -
For people who want improve their fitness
The Cardio Strength & Flow class challenges different components of physical fitness due to a sequence of different types of exercises: dynamic stretches, balance exercises, jumps and leaps, core, hip & shoulder stabilizer activation. In addition to helping build cardiovascular and muscle endurance, this well-balanced class can help you improve your overall fitness.
Why chose our kinesiologist-designed and led class?
-
Go at your own pace!
The circuits are designed to be time-based as opposed to repetition-based. This allows you to choose the intensity at which you want to workout at. Whether you need to blow off some steam or you want to take your time to master the execution of a particular movement, the choice is yours! -
Accessibility and inclusivity
Our body's unique way of being and moving was kept in mind during the design of this workout class. Our kinesiologist therefore expects to provide variations to the exercises taught to ensure that all participants can benefit from the training in a way that is optimal for their body.
-
A respectful space, free of judgment
Our intention is to offer a safe space where all are welcome to move and benefit from the exercise in order to promote physical activity as fun and active solution. The respect of our body, its limits and that of others is put forward. -
Studio Environment
Our classroom is fully equiped and offers a comfortable yet motivating environment for your workout. A big mirror is acessible to allow for form validation, but there are also areas in the room where the mirror is not visible if that is what you prefer. -
An experienced registered kinesiologist!
Our kinesiologist has accumulated over 13 years of experience and a couple h undred hours of continuing education since she received her diploma and license in 2012. Having had worked with teenagers, adults, elderly, pregnant people, and people who use a wheelchair, she bases herself on knowledge and experience to better guide you.
